We’re seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Group HR Manager on a full-time (37.5 hours) permanent basis to join our team at our Head Office in Bristol. Occasional travel to our other sites will be required but we can provide you with a company car. This standalone role is an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact on the company while maintaining and enhancing our reputation as the dealership of choice in the region.

Key Responsibilities

Employee Lifecycle Management:

  • Oversee all stages of the employee journey, from recruitment and onboarding to development, engagement, and offboarding.
  • Design and implement strategies to attract, develop, and retain top talent.
  • Lead the recruitment process, including drafting job descriptions, advertising roles, and supporting hiring managers during interviews.

Employee Relations:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employee relations, providing guidance to managers and employees on ER-related policies and procedures.
  • Handle complex employee issues, including disciplinaries, grievances, and performance management, ensuring compliance with UK employment laws.

Policy Development and Compliance:

  • Develop, review, and maintain HR policies and procedures in line with current legislation, industry standards and best practice.

Payroll and Benefits Administration:

  • Assist with the payroll processes in collaboration with the finance team to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
  • Manage employee benefits, including pensions and holiday entitlements.

Training and Development:

  • Identify training needs and coordinate relevant programs to upskill employees and improve performance.
  • Support career development initiatives and succession planning.

HR Reporting and Data Management:

  • Maintain accurate employee records and provide regular HR reports to senior management.
  • Monitor key HR metrics to inform decision-making and drive improvements.

Culture and Engagement:

  • Foster a positive workplace culture by leading initiatives to boost employee engagement and satisfaction.
  • Act as a champion of the company’s values and ensure they are embedded across the organisation.

What We’re Looking For

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Proven experience in an HR generalist or managerial role, ideally in an SME or standalone capacity.
  • CIPD Level 5 (or equivalent experience) is essential; Level 7 is desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practices.
  • Driving licence.

  • Highly organised and detail-oriented, with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
  • A proactive and positive approach, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Discretion and integrity when handling confidential information.
